Molly Carl is a gal who’s obsessed with words. From the time she was young, Molly would read every single thing she could get her hands on; some of her most vivid childhood memories are learning different words — like the different between place and palace which she learned in kindergarten.
Molly loves to learn, which is evident by the fervor with which she tackled her academic career. She loved every subject, with the exception of history, in its own right: she loved the complexities of math, the curiosity of science, and the structure of English. She was also actively involved in a number of extracurriculars, including the math club, National Honors Society, and the gifted program. She was also active outside of the classroom, involved in the marching band (trumpet), the concert band (clarinet), the jazz band (piano), the choir, and the theatre department where she performed in Bye Bye, Birdie her sophomore year.
After deliberating on a number of potential career paths — including meteorology, psychologist, and nurse (despite being horrified by needles) — and some input from her sophomore English teacher, Mr. Johnston, Molly decided to pursue a degree in English Education at Millersville University of Pennsylvania near Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
While at Millersville, Molly Carl was an active student on campus. She worked for two years as an orientation leader, worked as a tour guide for the school, and held the position of head copy editor for Millersville’s campus paper, The Snapper.
After graduating with her BA in English with a minor in Print Media Studies, Molly Carl knew that whatever career she chose, it would have to bring her back to Lancaster. Four months after earning her degree, she accepted a position at Clipper Magazine in Mountville, Pennsylvania where she worked as a second shift proofreader for nine months. One of Molly’s greatest loves in this world is proofreading the writing of others, and here she got to help monitor the quality of the advertisements published in the magazine. After a while, the brutal hours — 4:45pm to 3:15am Monday through Thursday — and the nocturnal lifestyle started to take a toll on her, so she decided to make a change. Her friend had recently begun working at a New York-based company that was opening its second office in Lancaster, so she decided to try her hand at the position and applied to Brand Yourself. Molly is now working at Brand Yourself as a Reputation Specialist where she helps people control and manage their online identities using SEO and content writing.
Molly Carl’s love for words also seeps into her personal life as well. She has a bookcase stuffed full of books she’s collected, read, and cherished over her life as well as boxes upon boxes stuffed with papers that are chock full of quotes, lyrics, personal poetry, and short stories she’s attempted to write throughout the years. She owns a 1938 Remington Rand typewriter that she should definitely use more, and would someday love to either proofread at a publishing company or write a television show for Adult Swim.
Molly is also the proud cat mom of Agnes, Thora, and Titus, who she loves more than anything in the whole world.
